FC Batavia Success Story: Ty Meagher
Our former player Ty Meagher just signed his first pro contract with Valley United FC! We are incredibly proud of his achievement and his dedication to reaching his dream. Congratulations Ty! Your journey has just begun, and we will be following you every step on the way. You more than deserve this and you are an inspiration for our young Batavians!
We recently asked Ty to share his thoughts on his experience playing for Coach Rick and this is what he said.
“Along my youth soccer journey, I’ve had many coaches. What separates Coach Rick from the others is how he not only develops the entire team but also personally connects to each player specifically offering a way to better themselves on and off the field.”
Being part of Rick’s teams always felt more like a family environment rather than a business. I always felt that he truly cared about my development. It wasn’t always about winning or losing but more of how the team and myself can get better. He gave me the opportunity to experience my first trial where he played professionally in the Netherlands which gave me the confidence to really push myself to play professionally and achieve my goal. Rick always supported me and I’m forever grateful.”

“Thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough! The coach before told Ty ‘Your goal of playing pro is one in a million.’ So in the car I told Ty, ‘Well, someone has to be the one!’ That very next tournament you approached Todd and I and invited us to tryouts. Man was that perfect timing!

We love FC Batavia! When researching different clubs, all the mega machines kept coming up but after a couple of tryouts with those clubs we were feeling a little unsure that we really wanted to allow our then 10 year old to give up being a kid, and have to fork out thousands in club fees, uniform costs, and to top off crazy travel costs. We were lucky to find FC Batavia. From day one it was evident that all the coaches were concerned with not only attracting talented players who already had a lot of skill but also on continuing to develop these players.
